Unity and PingCore

What the PingCore packages for Unity contain, the two ways to start, and what you need.

PingCore runs your Unity game's dedicated game servers on a fleet and lets players find, match into and join them. Everything for Unity is in one public repository, pingcoregaming/pingcore-unity.

What you get

  • PingCore SDK (io.pingcore.sdk): the runtime package that ships in your game. Game clients use it to find, reserve and match into game servers. Game servers use it to report to their fleet and to admit players through Netcode for GameObjects connection approval.

  • PingCore Editor (io.pingcore.editor): the Editor plugin, which never ships in a build. It adds Window > PingCore, where you sign in to your workspace, pick a fleet, and build and push a Linux dedicated game server. Its build guard fails any player build that contains a credential.

  • Beacon Rush: an arena game for up to 8 players on Netcode for GameObjects, in the repository's SampleGame folder.

Two ways to start

  1. Try Beacon Rush. Run Beacon Rush on PingCore takes it from an empty workspace to two players matched on your own game server.

  2. Add PingCore to your own game. Adding PingCore to Your Own Game installs the packages and walks the same path with your project.

With an AI agent

An agent connected to PingCore's MCP tools calls get_guide with the topic unity and follows it: it creates the fleet and the deployment, and builds and pushes from the command line.

A few steps have no MCP tool, so the agent asks you to do them in the panel:

  • importing the core (for Beacon Rush) under Games > Browse Cores;

  • creating the CDN source and setting it as the branch's data source;

  • creating the Brand API key for Window > PingCore, under Settings > API Keys;

  • issuing a push token for a command-line push;

  • turning on Anonymous player tokens under Player Access on the fleet's Discovery app.

The command-line build and push are on The PingCore Window.

Requirements

  • Unity 6 (6000.0 or newer) for the packages. Beacon Rush needs Unity 6.3 or newer and is tested on 6000.4.10f1.

  • The Linux Dedicated Server Build Support module, from Unity Hub.

  • Netcode for GameObjects 2.x and Unity Transport 2.x.

  • git on your PATH.

  • Mono as the dedicated game server's scripting backend. IL2CPP and WebGL builds are not verified yet.

  • A PingCore workspace with prepaid credit. See Creating Your Account.
